Momentum Earthworks is seeking an organized and proactive Assistant Project Manager to support daily construction operations, contract administration, quality control, and project coordination. This role plays a key part in managing subcontractor relationships, planning and communicating effectively, and ensuring that construction activities align with project schedules, quality standards, and client requirements. The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with the project team, including the superintendent, foreman, and subcontractors, to maintain clear communication and an efficient workflow on-site. This role provides a path to becoming a Project Manager, with a structured field training period of approximately one year.

Responsibilities:

Construction Oversight:

  • Assist in the daily management of construction activities to ensure adherence to project plans and specifications.
  • Track job progress and provide weekly status updates.
  • Attend weekly progress meetings and assist with daily jobsite documentation.

Contract Administration:

  • Support the submittal process and manage change orders as needed.
  • Write and manage subcontractor agreements and oversee subcontractor performance.
  • Assist in project billing, review and approval of invoices, and job cost tracking.
  • Aid in obtaining and maintaining project permits.

Schedule Management:

  • Help coordinate necessary inspections and create two-week lookahead schedules with the foreman.
  • Ensure timely completion of construction tasks in line with the project schedule.
  • Proactively organize and communicate with subcontractors to keep schedules aligned.

Quality Control:

  • Oversee work to verify adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Support material ordering and verify accurate shipments of required items.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Maintain proactive communication with subcontractors, suppliers, and customers to address any issues.
  • Assist with customer communication as directed by the foreman or project manager.

Internship Requirement/Qualifications:

Field Work Requirements:

  • Engage in daily tasks alongside field staff during the one-year training period to gain hands-on experience.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Experience in commercial construction or a related field (preferred).
  • Leadership and advanced GPS/Total Station training are preferred.
  • Familiarity with vertical and horizontal construction layouts, and construction contracts.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to read and interpret construction plans.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project) is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required, with the ability to drive a Momentum Earthworks vehicle.
  • Ability to lift/carry 50-100 lbs., stand/walk for extended periods, and handle tools/equipment.
  • Capable of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and working in various weather conditions.
