This hybrid role blends responsibilities in direct therapy support and medical finance administration. The intern will contribute to both clinical and office functions: supporting therapy delivery, assisting with credentialing and billing operations, and helping maintain smooth clinic processes. This role is ideal for individuals interested in psychology, healthcare administration, special education, or related fields.
Key Responsibilities:
Therapeutic & Clinical Support
- Assist in 1:1 and group therapy sessions for individuals with developmental delays in communication, social, and adaptive skills.
- Support certified behavior analysts in implementing individualized ABA therapy programs.
- Observe and help apply behavior support strategies in clinic and home-based settings.
- Collect behavioral data and maintain accurate session documentation.
- Participate in client assessments and team meetings.
- Maintain therapy materials and client files.
Medical Finance & Administrative Support
- Assist with processing insurance claims and managing client financial records.
- Help maintain credentialing documentation, including license verifications and expiration tracking.
- Use medical/clinic software to support financial and scheduling functions.
- Assist in preparing documentation for audits.
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, and facilitate communication between staff and families.
- Support compliance with healthcare and insurance regulations.
Qualifications:
- Current student or recent graduate in Psychology, Education, Health Administration, Finance, or related fields.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Interest in supporting individuals with developmental delays.
- Reliable transportation (must travel within Prince William and Fairfax Counties).
- Ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule (20 hrs/week).
- Must pass a criminal background check.
