We are seeking a Junior Engineering Intern to contribute to a project developing a precise mechatronic system. This role involves programming, 3D printing, and working with mechatronic systems. The internship offers hands-on experience with advanced technologies, including piezo actuators, minicomputers, PLCs, and AI-based vision systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and test Python scripts (and potentially C++ code) to control a precise mechatronic system, develop a motion planning algorithm, and interact with external subsystems.
- Support the system’s integration with FANUC robot, Rockwell PLC, and AI-based vision.
- Participate in prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Document code, processes, and system configurations.
Qualifications:
- Current enrolment in a relevant degree program (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics, Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field).
- Junior-level programming skills in Python; familiarity with C++ is a plus.
- Experience with 3D printing or CNC machining.
- Basic understanding of electronics and mechatronics systems.
- Eagerness to learn about robotics, PLCs, and AI vision systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Manual skills with tools like drills, taps, and measurement equipment.
- Ability to work in person at our Fredericksburg office (near Shannon Airport)
- The candidate needs to be hands-on and know computer software, including Python, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks etc.
