The Research Analyst Internship at Shaffer Evaluation Group offers hands-on experience in educational research and evaluation, including data analysis, literature review, and field data collection. Interns will support high-impact projects that serve underserved communities across the U.S. while gaining professional skills in a collaborative, on-site environment.
Responsibilities:
- Organize, clean, and analyze project documentation and data from clients
- Review educational research literature to support research plan and instrument development
- Identify and/or develop data collection instruments (e.g., surveys, interview protocols, observation protocols, knowledge assessments)
- Organize and conduct field data collection, including conducting research interviews and activity observations
- Conduct and/or verify quantitative and qualitative data analysis
- Summarize research findings in written and visual formats suitable for various audiences, including infographics and dashboards
- Assist with the development and submission of Institutional Research Board applications and renewals; ensure that consent procedures are followed consistently across projects
- Assist with administrative tasks, including scheduling meetings, note-taking, preparing presentations, and managing documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (Data Science, Data Analytics, Psychology, Public Policy, Program Evaluation, Education, Educational Policy, Educational Research); some graduate study is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in quantitative data analysis, interpretation, and presentation required; training and experience in data analytics preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and Canva required; experience with analytical and survey software, including Dedoose, R, SPSS, Qualtrics, and Tableau, preferred
- Strong professional communication (speaking and writing) and interpersonal skills when interacting professionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to multitask and balance competing timelines
- Customer service orientation and problem-solving mindset, and ability to take ownership of their work and see assigned tasks through to completion
- An unwavering commitment to producing high-quality work products
- Team player with a collaborative spirit.
