Internship Details
Title of Internship: Respite Support Intern Internship Description:The Respite Support Intern at Adagio House will be part of a dynamic team of therapists and paraprofessionals serving individuals with disabilities and caregivers during coordinated group respite activities at Adagio House. The RS Intern will work a maximum of 10 hours per week and report directly to the Director of Operations.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Be aware of the project budget and cost constraints in planning activities.
- Ensure that all supplies and equipment are ordered/purchased for planned activities and set up activities for participants weekly.
- Supervise participants and volunteers at the Community Center and provide a safe, kind, and engaging environment for participants.
- Assist and communicate with JMU Speech and Language students who provide instruction during the group meeting.
- Assist with various other housekeeping tasks to keep the Community Center clean and disinfected.
- Communicate with the Director of Operations weekly to provide feedback on how the participants are enjoying the activities and any changes that are needed for the group.
- Create a weekly plan for Summer Camp Circle, a small group that involves light activities and opportunities for interaction with peers and Adagio House personnel in the building.
