Position Overview: The Process Improvement Intern will work alongside the operations team to analyze, map, and enhance productivity and optimize resource utilization in the production and warehouse environment. This position involves conducting time studies, identifying bottlenecks, and recommending improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve workflow. The intern will also assist in documenting process flows and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Time Studies & Process Analysis: Conduct time studies on production and warehouse processes to determine cycle times, task durations, and identify areas for improvement.
- Process Flow Mapping: Develop detailed process flow diagrams using appropriate tools (e.g., Microsoft Visio, Lucid chart) to visually map production workflows and material movement throughout the warehouse.
- Data Collection & Reporting: Gather and analyze data related to production processes, including production rates, downtime, and inefficiencies. Present findings through reports and presentations to senior management.
- Process Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of process steps, workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and facilitate training.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to gather insights, verify data, and ensure proposed improvements are practical and aligned with operational goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in ongoing continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
- Benchmarking & Best Practices: Research and assist in implementing industry best practices in warehouse and production efficiency.
- Assist with Projects: Provide support for any ongoing process improvement projects, assisting in the implementation and follow-up of improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with process mapping tools (Visio, Lucid chart, etc.) is a plus.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

- The role involves active, hands-on learning and will require time spent in the production area.
- The candidates should be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where they will gain practical, real-world experience beyond an office setting.
